Raising funds for a worthwhile cause

It was an adrenaline fuelled weekend for the very first TWD4x4 & Roadcruza Australia’s Beyond Blue Charity Event.

A bunch of comp trucks and fourbies of all descriptions descended on Whitegum Farm at York. It had only been a couple of months since our first visit to the park and we were keen for a repeat not to mention support a worthwhile cause close to our hearts.

There was a charity auction held across the weekend with a variety of products up for bidding – recovery gear, UHFs, seat covers, vouchers etc. All proceeds went towards Beyond Blue which provides support and awareness of suicide, depression and anxiety.

It was an unstructured weekend of wheeling with plenty of participants checking out the variety of tracks from the beasty little zook, to the tough trucks right through to the unimog, there were obstacles for all. Owner Gary, even constructed some additional challenges whilst spectators watched on.

It was awesome to see so many of the comp truck drivers willing to take on passengers and the smiles on the kids’ faces afterwards were huge. Our big kid Willow threw his hand up, buckled up and got taken for a spin as well!

There was a coffee van on site which kept everyone caffeinated over the two days and there was even a food truck on site for the Saturday night dinner and Sunday breakky for those not wanting to cook. There was plenty of banter and good yarns around the campfire in the evenings and perhaps a couple of sore heads the first morning!

Well done to the TWD4x4 crew for their first event. We had a cracker weekend and can only imagine this event getting bigger and better 👍🏼

More than 150,000 people in Australia contacted Beyond Blue last year about their worries. Sometimes we all just need someone to listen.
